Have questions about To Your Door and how our delivery service works? We have attempted to address some of the more frequently asked questions here, but please don't hesitate to contact us!
General Questions
Q: How does your delivery program work?
A: Select the size of basket and frequency of delivery you desire and indicate your fruit and vegetable preferences. A custom-packed basket of fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables will arrive at your home or office.
Q: When do deliveries begin?
A: TBD, but typically at the end of June.
Q: How long is the delivery season?
A: On average 16 weeks of possible delivery between June and October.
Q: What is the difference between a small and large basket?
A: A large basket contains roughly twice as much produce as a small basket. Typically, a small basket is suggested for 1-4 people, while a large might feed a family of 2-8. These are rough estimates as eating habits vary widely from household to household. Consider how many meals you fix at home, whether you entertain often, and if you primarily eat fruits and veggies or if they only supplement your meals.
Q: My co-worker and I each ordered baskets. Why don't they look the same?
A: One of the great features of To Your Door is that each basket is unique! Our packers use the information you provide on your order form to prepare a custom basket each delivery. Contents of your basket depend on a number of factors including your likes and dislikes and the number of people in your household.

Delivery Questions
Q: I don't live in one of your delivery areas. What do you suggest?
A: If you don't see your community listed, please contact us. If we determine there is enough demand in a location, we will consider adding it to the route. Encourage your friends, family and neighbors to sign up, too! Another option is to see whether the city you work in is listed or if you have a friend willing to accept delivery for you. Keep in mind, delivery is available to businesses as well as homes.
Q: How do I sign up for delivery?
A: Purchase online through our store, or download our form and submit payment by mail.
Q: What day and what time will my basket be delivered?
A: The day your basket is delivered will be determined closer to the start of our season, but typically we deliver on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The time will vary the first couple of weeks as our drivers learn new routes, but in general, delivery is around midday.
Q: Do I need to be home to receive delivery?
A: No, it is not necessary to be home when your basket is delivered. However, remember we are delivering fresh fruits and vegetables which are perishable. Our drivers will make every effort to leave your basket in the area you have indicated on your form. Preferably, this is a location out of direct sunlight. If your basket will be setting outside for several hours, you may want to consider asking a neighbor to accept delivery.
Q: How will my produce arrive?
A: Your produce is delivered in a half-bushel basket, although sometimes the large baskets may overflow into another container! The baskets are sturdy and reusable. We have found this to be the best way to deliver your produce, and it is good for the environment, too!
Q: What should I do with my empty basket and containers?
A: Your empty basket is to be exchanged for a full one at your next scheduled delivery. This helps keep your costs down (and ours, too), but should you want to purchase one, they are $5 each. Customers tell us they make great flower pots, are good for hauling weeds, for containing toys and for a variety of other uses! Sometimes your fruits and veggies will be in containers such as pints and quarts. Although you will not be charged for these if you do not return them, we will happily accept them back to reuse whatever we can.

Produce Questions
Q: Can I tell you which fruits and vegetables I like?
A: ABSOLUTELY! This is one of the features our customers tell us they love about To Your Door! Each basket we pack is unique and designed to fit your family's needs. We understand that everyone has different fruits and veggies that they love or would rather do without. While we encourage you to try new things, we strive to give you what you can use.
Q: Are all the items locally grown?
A: Yes! We are blessed to live in one of the most agriculturally-diverse regions of the country and hope our baskets reflect that. While our operation is continually changing to meet your needs, we regularly visit family and friends at local farms to give you a wonderful variety of fruits and vegetables.
Q: Is the produce organic?
A: The farming practices of our family and friends vary, but most try not to spray anything synthetic or organic unless deemed absolutely necessary.
Q: Why should I buy locally-grown produce?
A: Produce that is grown locally can remain on the plant, vine or tree longer than those fruits and veggies that are destined for long travels and a long shelf-life. Sometimes it is necessary to have produce that can last, but living in this fertile area allows us to enjoy a wide variety of locally-grown, freshly-picked items. Think more flavorful, juicier, healthier...
Q: We LOVED the peaches in last week's basket, but they went too fast! Can we get more?
A: We will always do our best to accommodate special requests. If we are not giving you enough quantity of an item, let us know. We try our best to determine what amount would be needed based on the number of people in your household and how well you like it. If you are looking for a large quantity of a single item, say apples for sauce, we are sometimes able to help you out, or direct you to someone who can. Don't hesitate to ask!
Q: I can't identify that vegetable in my basket. What is it?
A: From time to time we try new or unique varieties of fruits and vegetables and let you sample them, too! If you're not sure what it is, check out our Twitter account first, as we'll try to keep you updated on what you might find in your basket. If you still have questions, please don't hesitate to ask! We hope you'll be willing to try something new!
